Donations (Blue) vs. Expenses (Red)

2013 - 2024

Year by year comparison

The goal of the Leonard Cemetery Association is to reach a point where the value of assets on deposit yields an annual income that will support the maintenance and expenses of the Leonard Cemetery.  In our current situation, an annual income from investments of $25,000 is estimated to be adequate to support the needs of the of the cemetery operations into the future.  Interest rates for cemetery principal investments have been extremely low previous to 2023 but have picked up in recent years. The association has focused on reducing expenses and only spending where needed. This shows in the graph and has been aided by increased levels of donation for which the association is extremely grateful. The 2021 and 2024 donation cycles were greatly boosted from very generous gifts of estate which shows an elevation above the normal trend.

With expenses that are climbing higher per year, the association relies heavily on donations.  The past seven years have yielded income from donations of just over $83,000 total.  Conversely, the non-capital expenses for the same period were just over $74,000.  The trend over the last five years is a positive one of increased donations and decreased expenses. We have reached a point where we are able to take care of larger issues at the cemetery. Even so, donations are still needed as we work to secure the future of the Leonard Cemetery.    Please contact the Association (leonardcemeteryassn@gmail.com) if you are interested in providing a bequest through your estate.   The Leonard Cemetery Association is very grateful for any amount you can give; but we do ask that you please give.
